The Nintendo Switch 2 gets one more last-minute launch game

Nintendo Switch 2 is getting another exciting game at launch! On June 5, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be available for the new console. And here’s some great news for players who already own the game on the original Nintendo Switch—you’ll have the option to upgrade to the Switch 2 version by paying a small fee.
This game, Fantasy Life i, was actually just released last week by the developer Level-5. It’s a sequel to the beloved Nintendo 3DS game Fantasy Life, which became a cult favorite. The game is what the developers call a “Slow RPG”—meaning you can take your time enjoying different jobs, from chopping wood as a lumberjack to cooking meals as a chef. Surprisingly, the game turned out to be a big hit right after its release on May 21, even reaching over 65,000 players at the same time on Steam at its peak. While it’s already out on the regular Nintendo Switch, a special Switch 2 Edition will be ready just in time for the new console’s launch.
Now, here’s something interesting about the pricing. Unlike most Switch 2 games, Fantasy Life i has a slightly different setup. If you’re buying it brand-new for the Switch 2, it’ll cost $62.58. But if you already own the Switch version, you can upgrade for just $2.59—which is a pretty sweet deal! Level-5 also mentioned that the Digital Deluxe Edition won’t get its own separate Switch 2 version. So, if you want the Deluxe Edition on Switch 2, you’ll first have to buy the original Switch version and then pay for the upgrade.
So, what’s new in the Switch 2 Edition? Well, Level-5 says it comes with some “significant” improvements over the current Switch version. You can expect faster loading times, better graphics, and a smoother frame rate (though they didn’t say exactly how many frames per second it’ll run at). Just remember—if you’re still playing on the original Nintendo Switch, you won’t get these upgrades; they’re only for the Switch 2 version.
Fantasy Life i is a great addition to the Switch 2’s launch lineup, which already includes big titles like Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. Last week, we talked about how much we enjoyed this RPG for its chill life-sim gameplay, calling it “a sweet little game for anyone who loves doing small digital tasks and feeling rewarded for every little thing they do.”
